Sarah: Mom, Teacher, Aesthetician

Sarah: Mom, Teacher, Aesthetician

What inspired you to pursue a career in Aesthetics?

I was a teacher for 15 years while raising my kids and homesteading. During that time, I started making my own skin care, which sparked my interest in the aesthetics industry. I also got into permanent makeup while my husband worked in tattooing. Many of his clients were interested in tattoo removal, which inspired me to learn more about the industry and explore aesthetics as a career.

What excites you the most about becoming an Aesthetician?

What excites me most is being able to combine my passion for skin care with helping people feel confident. I love learning about different treatments and seeing the results they can create for clients. I also enjoy building relationships with my clients and helping them reach their skin goals.

Why did you choose NIMA for your education?

I toured several schools, but NIMA immediately stood out to me. It had everything I was interested in all in one place, from advanced skin care to laser treatments and tattoo removal. I fell in love with the school, the environment, and the opportunities NIMA offered.

Which resources or experiences at NIMA have had the biggest impact on helping you achieve your goals?

The hands-on training and the opportunity to work with real clients have had the biggest impact on me. NIMA gave me the experience and confidence to start taking my own clients and building my clientele. The education and hands-on experience I received helped me develop the skills I needed to feel confident in the industry.

What are your goals after graduating from NIMA?

My journey with NIMA has grown into something even more meaningful. When I saw that NIMA was hiring instructors, I realized it would give me the opportunity to return to teaching while combining both of my passions, education and aesthetics. My goal is to continue growing as an aesthetician while helping future students learn, build confidence, and pursue careers they are passionate about.

If future students could hear one piece of advice from you, what would you want them to know?

Take the leap and give yourself the opportunity to grow. It’s okay to feel nervous when starting something new, but don’t let that stop you. Be open to learning, take advantage of every opportunity, and trust the process.
