Diane: From The Corporate World to Aesthetics
What inspired you to pursue a career in Aesthetics?
I spent many years working in a corporate career, but I’ve always had a passion for skin care and beauty. After some changes in my corporate job, I took the opportunity to reevaluate what I truly wanted to do. With encouragement and support from my sister, I realized that pursuing a career in aesthetics was the right path for me.
What excites you the most about becoming an Aesthetician?
What excited me most was the opportunity to turn something I had always been passionate about into a meaningful career. I loved learning about skin care, treatments, and how to help clients feel more confident in their skin. I also discovered that I truly enjoyed connecting with people and helping them reach their skin care goals.
Why did you choose NIMA for your education?
My sister encouraged me to tour NIMA, and after visiting, I knew it was where I wanted to be. I was impressed by the instructors, the education, and the overall environment. I was initially worried that I was too old to go back to school and start over, but everyone at NIMA was so welcoming and supportive that those fears quickly went away.
Which resources or experiences at NIMA have had the biggest impact on helping you achieve your goals?
The instructors and hands-on education at NIMA had the biggest impact on my experience. I gained practical skills and knowledge that prepared me for the industry, while the supportive environment gave me the confidence to grow. My experience at NIMA ultimately inspired me to return a few months after graduating as an instructor, where I continued to grow both personally and professionally.
What are your goals after graduating from NIMA?
After graduating, I returned to NIMA a few months later and became an instructor. I spent several years teaching and sharing my knowledge with future aestheticians. Today, I’m proud to serve as the Director of Education at NIMA in Nevada, where my goal is to continue helping students build the skills, confidence, and passion they need to succeed in the aesthetics industry.
If future students could hear one piece of advice from you, what would you want them to know?
Don’t let fear or your age hold you back from starting something new. I was worried about going back to school and starting over, but taking that chance completely changed my life. If you’re passionate about aesthetics, believe in yourself, take the leap, and trust the process. You never know where that first step might lead you.
